Indoor Micro Soccer

Cael's first soccer game was this morning. After two practices, he was ready to take the field.

"Taking the field" being the only thing he actually did, but hey. That's more than he did in either practice, so it's a big step.

He doesn't concern himself with where the ball or the other players are, but we're hopeful maybe he'll try that next week.

On a scale of zero to an actual player, I put him somewhere between the boy who spent the entire game on the sideline hiding under his folding chair and the girl who kept chasing after the ball and then throwing herself on top of it as if it were a live grenade and she was the room's only hope.

Gratuitous warm-up shot so you can see what he'll look like one day when he actually plays:

Go, Tigers!

Sumpter School Park

Another day, another park!

This one has two different play structures.  The younger kid structure was a big hit.

Finn's favorite part was the giant spinning gear.

Cael liked to sit in the little booth tucked underneath the slide.

But, wait! Who are these cool dudes?

It looks like they'd enjoy the bells!

And then we follow Finn over to...

The big structure.

A wobbly bridge,

some climbing devices,

a rope web,

two different slides,

and plenty of room underneath to run around.

Plus, a bonus teeter totter. (Still not functional without Mama's big muscles. Woe.)

And, most importantly, swings!

Everybody loves swings!

I'm going to go ahead and declare this the best park yet.

Nelson Park

Next on our tour: Nelson Park.

Old-school wooden play structure that really holds no appeal. It's got some chains and some monkey bars. Not even a slide!

But wait! What's that? A teeter totter! Bonus points to Nelson Park. (Although we're not going back until Cael has a little more meat on his bones. One-sided teeter totters are painful for Mama. I think you can actually see me cringing in this photo.)

And some random shape thing that I'm assuming exists only for pretty photos like this one.

Swings! Add 100 points in the Finn column.

And toss a couple more points up there for Ryder.

Also cool was the animal-springy-teeter-thing (yes, I named it myself).

I can't wait until all three boys are big enough to ride on their own. Plenty of fun to be had.

And, of course, the most important element - dirt!

Overall a pretty entertaining park that will definitely be thrown in the mix when we're looking for variety.
