Fall football begins!

Declan's first ever flag football game and he ran for 20 yards, plus had an uber convincing fake. Finn was a rockstar, ran for a TD, had an awesome block, and then intercepted and ran it back for a TD!! Cael ran for one TD right out of the gate and threw for a 2-pt conversion later in the game! Plus he was his team's best cheerleader and had a super positive attitude. Good coaching, Ryan :)

Father's Day!

Since we will be out of town next week, we surprised Ryan with an early Father's Day. We took him out to the Original Pancake House, went on a family walk, took a trip to the hardware store (!!), did some silent reading, family games, and a round of miniature golf (followed by beer and nachos, of course)! All of his favorite things.

(It turns out that Declan is somehow a golf expert after having played zero times before. There were several times that Ryan and I exclaimed "NO WAY!" after he made amazing shots. It was a little freaky.)

Traveling in Style

And, as an added bonus, we got stuck in traffic behind an accident and sat in place for 40 minutes on 205. Extra time in the lap of luxury!

Saturday

We had a successful trip to the dentist. No cavities for Ryan or Cael! And Cael was a champ. He got the polish and the foam and everything. I was really proud of how well he sat for it. Plus, he got to be a dental assistant.  He put on the blue gloves and examined Ryan's teeth while Ryan sat in the chair.  Dentist Cael says that Daddy's teeth look like a mustache.  We'll have to have Uncle Dan look into that.

After a long day of playing, the boys needed a little down time.  They learned about how fruit decomposes (I'm glad I missed that episode, ICKY). I am really hoping they don't ask to do the molding pumpkin experiment on their own.  *crosses fingers*  Apparently, Ryan already knows all there is to know and decided he'd skip the lesson.

While they watched things rot, I made dinner. Which was delightful and delightfully easy.* Finn had four helpings and Cael had two!

And then we tucked the boys in bed and made a little something for ourselves. (Don't tell them!)

*Simmer 2 cups heavy cream, 2 tbsp butter, salt, pepper and some Parmesan cheese until thickened (~8 min). Meanwhile, cook chicken, cook pasta, and cook broccoli. Combine! Sprinkle with nutmeg and some extra cheese. Serve to hungry boys.

Martha Carty

I tend to wake up on weekend mornings a little late. Okay, a lot late. Sleep and I aren't as friendly during the week as I'd like and we use Saturday and Sunday to catch up.

Ryan uses Saturday and Sunday to morph into Martha Stewart.

Saturday it was banana bread. This morning I woke up to a heaping plate of fresh strawberry shortcake and homemade whipped cream. I'd show you a picture but I ate it too quickly. The camera never stood a chance.

Here's a picture of my plate after Finn had his way with it:

"Mess? What mess?"

Luckily, Martha had another trick up his sleeve this morning.

And now I've got to go. There are muffins to be consumed.
